Industrial systems - Research & consulting

Development of intelligence in industrial systems by releasing the power of in-formation on energy and matter.

I assist industrial companies seeking to leverage IT for achieving the systemic optimization of their production facilities.
Following the industry focus change from open loop mass production to environment feedback driven real time adaptation to market, I progressively expanded my interest from instrumentation and physical process control to operations management in a strategy fulfillment perspective.
During my 35 years career, I witnessed the information technology evolution successively reified in mechanic and fluidic devices, analog and digital electric signals, electromagnetic waves and computing clouds. Beyond information technology, I am interested in physical, sociological and philosophical nature of information and its key role in production systems for releasing systemic intelligence through efficient interactions.
Expert in automation and manufacturing operations management (MOM/MES), industrial production linguist (interoperability), I participate to IEC, ISO and ISA activities for the development for IEC61512, ISA-88, ISO62264, ISA-95 and B2MML standards.

Industrial systems are complex socio-technical organisms that exploit the World's natural resources to fulfill the needs of the Mankind.
Introduced in the 1970's to cybernetics and early developments of the system theories by Jean Marchand, brilliant mathematician, theorist of fundamental equilibriums, professor of control computing and forgotten thinker, I was taught to observe the Nature through both Macroscope and Microscope lenses.

An Enterprise is an open, complex system subject to Contingency, Conflicts and Degeneracy. It is sentenced to a quick death without Organization, Knowledge, and Intelligence - Information which reveals and leverages opportunities, develops and executes Strategy, leads to short and long term successes – extending its lifetime.

Information is the structuring element and the action enabler of systems: its more and more intimate control by the technology has the power to improve their health and to grant them potential eternity. Yet the life expectancy of the biggest companies hardly reaches 40 years.

The exploitation of the syntropic power of information is obviously suboptimal. In its tangible aspects – organization, knowledge, processing, interactions – information shall leverage technology and methods to support the smart integration of the enterprise in its ecosystem: keeping synced with markets; lowering entropy by managing environmental impact, smoothing social interactions, and preventing senescence; ensuring a balanced and sustainable economic amplification
